The main point here is the money changers that Christ deals with in all four gospels is connected to the history of Jews and usury.  They are the driving force of materialism in the world because of their connection to this, from banking and finance you can dictate much of the business, economic, political, academic, technological, medical, industrial and entertainment world. They are the heart of the economy. In essence, it is like Shiva or 7 in creation (Genesis) with God speaking creation into existence, and 7 in the Book of Revelation repeated over and over, Revelation is connected to truth (sword of his mouth) and destruction before something new is formed. Truth and light will be destroyers and will create a new world. 

This is why the fear to speak the truth is there, why Simon Peter openly denies Christ before men and follows Jesus from a distance, why his own disciples do not go to the cross with him, but weirdly, Mary Magdalene was there at the cross. She also brought the message to the disciples after she found the empty tomb and was the first to see Christ after the resurrection. Truth and light are being associated with God, his crucifixion represents the death of  Logos, Truth, Light and Order in the world just like what Nietzsche says with the death of God.
